Can composite doors improve home security?

There is nothing quite like coming home after a long day at work, shutting the door behind you, and being able to unwind completely knowing you and your family are safe. Unfortunately, that feeling of safety might only be a feeling. Indeed, burglars and other malicious individuals will easily be able to enter your home if your doors and windows are not up to standard. And with a burglary occurring somewhere in the UK every forty seconds on average, anyone could become a target.

If you are thinking about improving your home security, a new door might be the right move. If you have done a little bit of research into doors, you might have read that composite doors are a popular choice. In this article,  we will explain to you why composite doors are indeed a great choice to improve home security.

A stronger and more weather-resistant option

Composite doors are superior to their wooden and uPVC counterparts because their core is made of either a solid timber and is covered in ABS (which is also known as a thermoplastic cool skin) or a thick foam core that is reinforced with GRP (which stands for glass-reinforced plastic). Either of these two cores provides composite doors with high strength and contributes to their capacity to withstand nearly any element. In addition to this, composite doors can be up to twice as thick as uPVC doors and are naturally more resistant to the damaging effects of ultraviolet light, salt, and chemicals.

Stronger than aluminium

Because aluminium is more lightweight than fibreglass, doors made of aluminium are less secure than doors made of composite materials. Composite doors are an excellent option to consider if you require standard-sized front doors for your home and also want to deter intruders. Aluminium doors are the best option, however, if you require doors that can fit through larger spaces in your home.

A clever combination of multi-point locks anti-pick locks and anti-drill locks

Because of their reinforced frames, anti-pick locks, anti-drill locks, and superior adjustable hinges, composite doors are up to the most stringent industry standards for levels of safety and protection. As a result, there are two finger bolts, two hooks, and a deadbolt that serve as a barrier between you and potential thieves and make it extremely difficult to break into your home.

A warp-resistant solution

During warm summer months, many doors warp and become thinner because of the extreme weather conditions and temperatures they are exposed to. The damage caused makes them significantly simpler to break through. This makes them a perfect target for burglars who just have to wait for late autumn/winter’s loss of luminosity to strike.  As a result, autumn and winter are the times of the year when burglars are most active. If you want to avoid wrapping or weather damage, composite doors are the answer. Indeed, they do not warp and are resistant to temperature-induced shrinking and expansion.

This kind of door definitely checks off all the boxes when it comes to security, and it has the potential to provide you with peace of mind throughout the whole year. In addition, replacing your front doors with a modern composite one will make your home much less appealing to potential intruders. They probably won’t even bother trying to break into your home since they will know your door is almost unbreakable.
