● Frequently asked

Front Doors — questions answered

How much does a new front door cost?

+

A standard uPVC front door installed in Essex typically starts around £1,400. Composite front doors — our most popular choice — start from £1,900 and most installs fall between £2,000 and £2,800 depending on glass, colour and hardware. Aluminium designer doors run from £3,500. Every quote is itemised and includes survey, fitting, certification and removal of your old door.

Are composite doors better than uPVC?

+

Composite doors are stronger, more secure, better insulated, and they don't fade or warp the way uPVC can. The trade-off is price — they're about 30–40% more. For a front door we almost always recommend composite because it's the most visible, most-used, most-vulnerable door on the house. For back doors and utility entrances, uPVC is often the more sensible spec.

How secure are your front doors?

+

Every front door we fit comes with a multi-point locking system (typically 4–6 locking points), an anti-snap, anti-bump, anti-pick 3-star euro cylinder, and reinforced internal beading. Composite doors have a solid foam core wrapped in GRP, making them extremely resistant to forced entry. PAS 24 and Secured by Design certified options are available for insurance requirements.

How long does it take to fit a new front door?

+

Most front door installs take 4 to 6 hours on the day. Manufacturing typically takes 4 to 5 weeks from survey, and we'll book the fit date with you in advance so you can plan around it. Your home is never left exposed — we remove and replace in a single visit.

What colours and finishes are available?

+

We offer 20+ standard composite door colours including the most-requested anthracite grey, chartwell green, duck egg blue, racing green, claret red and jet black, plus oak and rosewood woodgrain finishes. Aluminium doors come in any RAL colour. Hardware can be chosen separately — chrome, brushed steel, brass or black — and matched across the letterbox, handle, knocker and spyhole.

Can you fit a new front door to an existing frame?

+

We don't recommend it. The frame, threshold and weather seals work together as a single unit, and modern multi-point locking only achieves its security rating in the frame it's designed for. Fitting a new door slab into an old frame compromises security, weather-tightness and the guarantee. The full installed cost difference is usually only £100–£200.
